No Smoking

Following a survey of members in the Autumn of 2004, the Committee has agreed on the following "no smoking" policy.

There shall be no smoking anywhere in the Club at anytime. This measure extends to the corridor and the outer hallway. If you need to smoke then you will need to go outside.

This measure came into force on 1st January 2005.

This measure was introduced after requests from several members and a opinion poll of all members. There were only a small minority of members that actively wanted smoking to be permitted in the non-playing areas.

The Committee felt that in the light of the facts;

• There was a strong support from the members for total ban.
• Any formal resolution at the next AGM would be highly likely to pass.
• Potential legislation about smoking in the workplace may force our hand with regards to smoking in the bar.

It would be best to introduce the policy as soon as possible. A short delay until the start of the year was given so that the Secretary had time to write to all the league clubs informing them of change of policy mid-season.
