Withdrawing from competitions
For a number of competitions, there is an entry form placed on the main notice board for players to sign up.
The reasons we need to know the number of players are;
- The Movement: Depending on numbers or the the type of competition, we may need to have a special movement. For individual competitions, there is no movement for certain numbers so we have to get reserves in.
- The Reserves: Some competitions have limited space. Once the entry is full, further entries go on a reserve list.
- Start Time: Play begins at the scheduled start time. Once everybody we expect to arrive does arrive then we can start play, even if we are early.
Due to personal circumstances, players may need to withdraw at the last moment; it is the accepted practice of this Club, and good manners, to inform the Tournament Secretary as soon as possible.
The Tournament Secretary’s telephone number is published in numerous places at the Club, on the “Programme of events” that is issued to all members and also on the entry form itself. As a last resort, players can always ring the Club as the Tournament Director should be there fifteen minutes before the start of play.
Players fail to turn up without informing the Tournament Secretary will receive a written warning and a “Yellow Card ”.
Repetition of such actions will incur a “Red Card” along with a recommendation to the Tournament Sub-Committee to suspend that member from competitions for a period of time .
